Hago, deshago y rehago

Under the title "I make, unmake and remake" this exhibition held in 2017 brings together works by eight internationally renowned female artists: Louise Bourgeois (Paris, France 1911 - New York, USA 2010); Ida Applebroog (New York, USA 1929); Farideh Lashai (Rasht, Iran 1944 - Tehran, Iran 2013); Phyllida Barlow (Newcastle, UK 1944); Carmen Calvo (Valencia, Spain 1950); Pipilotti Rist (Grabs, Switzerland 1962); Kara Walker (Stockton, USA 1969); and Françoise Vanneraud (Nantes, France 1984). It brings together paintings, sculptures, photographs, collages and audiovisual installations. Disparity of styles and techniques but, above all, in terms of the subject matter of the pieces. The older artists coincide in giving their work a more autobiographical perspective, while the younger ones reflect the more social aspects of life. In addition to sexuality, violence and slavery in the work of Kara Walker, there is the reading of the past through the "reinvention" of objects by Carmen Calvo, or the reflection of the multiple layers of existence of the late Iranian painter Farideh Lashai.

HAGO, DESHAGO Y REHAGO

HAGO, DESHAGO Y REHAGO

ALFONSO DE LA TORRE

Narrations of women artists such systems of meaning, murmurs between the silence of a language incinerated by mourning, the past or noise. Oblivion and the verb of pain.

Accurate stories of narration, still awaiting stories, hidden stories of artists, travelers between rage and desire, sometimes imbued with a strong iconoclasm, frequenting a special relationship with images.
