Las Germinaciones del Agua

Jose Albelda (1963, Valencia. Lives and works in Valencia) surprises on this occasion with a delicate exhibition where watercolour and gold leaf put the focus on that which goes so unnoticed: wild nature and its germinations in water. Combining the idea that painting does not immortalise, but revives the past, with the fact that water is a source of life and creation, Albelda presents a series of pieces that recreate the wild nature so typical of some of the richest natural landscapes in our country. All these paintings are exhibited in parallel to a series of reflections by the artist drawn in elegant calligraphy on the white walls of the Ana Serratosa Gallery. These phrases, together with the watercolours, make us question the role of nature in today's world, while at the same time immersing us in the artist's creative process.

Las Germinaciones del Agua

por Jose Albelda

In the past, painting has been used in different ways to bring to life or maintain the memory of what happened at the time. It has made it possible to relive great historical deeds through their spectacular representation, but it has also immortalised people with the same skill with which kings and popes were painted; Dürer, for example, took the same care in painting grasses and small animals as he did in his Adam and Eve.
