NILS -UDO

Pathways

A multidisciplinary artist who works in sculpture, photography, drawing and painting, NILS-UDO (Lauf, Germany, 1937) creates a poetic bridge between human beings and the natural environment. His work invites us to contemplate the world around us with sensitivity, revealing the intimate connection that binds us to nature.By capturing the fleeting beauty of his creations through photography, the artist preserves a living dialogue between art and nature that transforms our perception of landscape and time. He creates ephemeral installations in nature using humble, organic materials—branches, leaves, stones—to construct authentic living embroideries with the earth. In this unique exhibition, which brings together works created in diverse environments such as Lanzarote, Namibia, France and Germany, NILS-UDO reveals the poetry hidden in ephemeral nature, offering a sensory journey that reminds us of the importance of ecological balance.A key figure in Land Art, NILS-UDO shares the limelight with names such as Andy Goldsworthy, Patrick Dougherty, Herman de Vries, Bob Verschueren and Richard Long.

A love of the land inspires the structures NILS-UDO assembles using a vernacular language of living elements. Our relation to unrecorded holistic history, agriculture, the wilderness and the culture of nature come together.
