Revisión de la tradición

The artists Jonathan Lasker, Bernard Frize, Katharina Grosse, Erwin Wurm, Stephan Balkenhol and Jaume Plensa show in this issue a review of the defence and renewal of painting and sculpture and the legitimisation of the traditional channels for the dissemination of art, such as the museum and the gallery, and their reinvention as spaces that bring together the art they consider to be traditional but reinvented. The search for solutions to revive painting and sculpture has led these artists to look for different solutions and ways of transmitting that pictorial art is still valid, as happened in the eighties with the "return" of painting, creating new ways of representing and new experimental tendencies such as "painting without painting".

 REVISION OF THE TRADITION

REVISION OF THE TRADITION

MIGUEL CERECEDA

Miguel Cereceda reviews the "self-destruction" of painting throughout the twentieth century and what it meant for artists who came after this era of dissolution that materialized, among other events, Marcel Duchamp's withdrawal from the world of art .

The trip through the different vanguards that were created in response to these events links all the artists of this exhibition, who drink from the currents that wanted to solve the continuity of painting in contemporary art.
