William Steiger

"Road Less Traveled" is an exhibition where the artist explores inherently nostalgic and anachronistic images that speak to the idealism of modernisation. Steiger's works are exercises in minimalist visual language that depict typical American settings, with a vision that represents a time when technology offered utopian possibilities and inspired a collective fantasy of progress. For the artist, "Much of architecture has a purpose, it is not built to please the eye, but to serve a function, such as the storage of water or grain. Seeking beauty in structure may not be the most obvious choice; however, my visual language grew out of this decision to re-imagine, to project a soul into man-made objects."
