Carmen Jabaloyes

"Viaje a La Habana", by the Valencian artist Carmen Jabaloyes, is the exhibition not only of a work of art, but of a story told through it. A story of friendship in which the main impulse is the search for light. A warm luminosity that leads the author to plan a trip to Cuba with her friend Anja Ruttyn, a destination she was unable to reach in the end. This exhibition is a reflection of the Cuba that Carmen Jabaloyes could only see through the eyes of her friend. Fernando Castro, curator of the exhibition, explains her work as follows: "Jabaloyes endows Anja's Havana snapshots with an overflowing colourfulness that is very late-romantic, making the chromatic fleshiness what dominates beyond the defined outline of the drawing".
