Xavier Grau

In this exhibition, Xavier Grau shows us his commitment and constancy with painting. His painting is clearly indebted to the New York school, to Pollock and to abstract expressionism in its American aspect. In the words of the curator of this exhibition, Francisco Carpio: "our artist does not need to resort to figurative elements or motifs, nor to refer to any type or model of referentiality, which increasingly distances him from those figurative allusions that appeared in his paintings at the beginning of his career, the truth is that, like a good abstract painter, he pays tribute, more or less clearly, to nature and landscape as sources from which all abstract painting drinks and is hydrated". For all these reasons, the spectator is confronted with an artist who is interpretatively pictorial, making this act his way and style of life. Undoubtedly, this exhibition shows what is no longer shown, a painter with the firm conviction that painting has always been the beginning and the end of everything.
